Parking, Drop-off, Pick-up and Carpooling are up to each hiker to coordinate. There are NO SHUTTLES at end of hike, please be sure to plan accordingly.
DAY 1 is more strenuous than Day 2 with a significant majority of the hike is not covered by trees, and depending on the weather, could be in direct sun. Dress accordingly: HAT, SUNGLASSES, SUNSCREEN, PROTECTIVE CLOTHING, BUG SPRAY. Because of the presence of water, the bugs are VERY PRESENT (black flies and bees) Bring extra water and/or Gatorade, and snacks (just in-case). Water Stations (details to come) will be present along the hike, but if it is hot, please be prepared. Hikers can start on the path beginning at 6:30AM to try and beat the heat. Hike will pass the Caesar Creek swim area, so bring along a swim suit and take a quick dip to cool off! There are changing rooms near the beach area and there will be a Water Station, too.
DAY 2 is less strenuous (slightly longer) and has more tree cover. Hikers may want to consider wearing PANTS and more protective clothing, as the trail on the north end is not as wide and the fields are knee high in grass and weeds. And, DON’T FORGET BUG SPRAY!
Overnight camping is available at Horseman’s Camp (end location of DAY 1 and START location of Day 2). Camping is $17/night and on the honor system. Leave an envelope with $ tacked on the board. Park is monitored by park rangers. For more information: http://www.caesarcreekstatepark.com/camping.html .
